Englisch B2.1

Ein Kurs von Rebecca Pohle
Booklovers meet fellow readers! Join HARPO'S BOOK CLUB, read and discuss a New York Times bestseller - and find out about excellent travel writing, food writing and more! Book-title: „Horse“ by Geraldine Brooks. Once again Brooks has written a multilayered, gripping story that bounces back and forth in time and place. The common thread is the true story of Lexington, a legendary race horse in the 1850s and an enslaved groom called Jarret. Historical fiction? Not only! She also created a present day storyline that is just as engrossing as the historical one: Jess, Smithonian scientist from Australia and Theo, Nigerian-American art historian are unexpectedly connected through their interest in the horse. Some of the characters are based on real-life figures. However, despite thorough research and the use of reliable sources, Brooks had to fill in gaps; she did that with fictions that reflect the genius of a truly imaginative storyteller. – By the way: It doesn’t matter if you know nothing whatsoever about race horses.
