Intercultural Competence for Everyday Life (Niveau B2), ab 60 plus
Whether traveling to another country or staying for a while surrounded another culture, life is more pleasant understanding “The Others”. Also, it is important not to be misunderstood when dealing with people from another culture. For example, something as simple as bargaining for the best price or complimenting a person “the right way” are situations where having intercultural competence can be to your advantage. Concepts such as body language are discussed – eye contact in one culture may be considered a display of honesty and in another a possible threat. Let’s learn about the “Do’s” and “Don’t’s”, but also dig a little deeper into what makes one culture different than another. A class book may be suggested.
